Karl's biography

Rising star Karl is best known for his role as soap bad boy Robert Sugden in Emmerdale.

Before landing the role in 2001, he appeared in numerous ITV1 shows including Fat Friends, Peak Practice and The Bill.

Karl’s biggest Emmerdale storyline involved his character’s affair with Katie Sudgen, wife of his step-brother Andy. He left the show in 2006 and recently starred in the hit ITV1 drama Kingdom, with Stephen Fry and Hermione Norris.
