The lowdown: This comedy follows the ups and downs of a group of male medical students at St Swithin's hospital in London. The motley crew spend most of their time chasing after nurses and generally getting on the wrong side of ill-tempered surgeon Professor Geoffrey Loftus. Can they keep themselves out of scrapes for long enough or will they get thrown off the course?
Memorable moments: Look out for an early TV appearance from Martin Shaw as a Welsh medical student Huw Evans. Other guest stars include John Le Mesurier and Arthur Lowe of Dad’s Army fame, and Goodie Graeme Garden.
Did you know? Robin Nedwell, who played Duncan Waring, died in 1999 in rather odd circumstances. He had a fatal heart attack at his doctors – having originally gone there to have stitches removed after falling off a ladder. Two years earlier, Barry Evans, aka Michael Upton in the show, died from acute alcohol poisoning. His body was found when police went to his house to inform him they had found his stolen car.
