Record producer and frustrated rock star with huge talent and an ego to match. Mal is married to Karina, his fellow judge, who he met after she came to work for him and ended up becoming his top A&R woman. He’s faithful when he’s sober – unfortunately that’s not often. His break with Karina is caused by a tacky tryst in his dressing room. It’s worsened when he asks a lawyer to create a “genius clause” in a contract. He uses Jinx to undermine his wife.
