The final episode
Ollie has concluded that his parents only unite as a team when he goes way over the top. So it’s time to ramp up his ‘eating disorder’. He’s also penned a psychopathic essay aimed at his teacher.
Laura (Maggie O’Neill) and Will Crowe (Robson Green) are deeply scared by their son’s piece of very ‘creative’ writing. Although Will can’t help but be impressed by his son’s imagination.
What they don’t want is for Ollie to know how worried they are. As far as Ollie is concerned his mum and dad think his latest attempt at devilry was funny.
Will and Laura know that Ollie’s behaviour is down to them but once again they can’t let the past go and when Laura finds out that the lovely Debs is working as Will’s PA she concedes it’s time for her to see a lawyer.
When Will finds out, he’s incensed. A few days later Laura receives a letter from Will’s solicitor and he’s filed for divorce.
Events spiral out of control and when Oliver loses his only ally, Zoe, on the day that his dad files for divorce he reaches the end of his tether.
A frantic chase begins as Will and Laura finally unite in order to find their son.
They’re both horrified to realise that their selfishness has forced Ollie to pursue such a warped agenda. This time their son really does seem to have lost it. Will remembers that the one place Ollie hates more than any other seems to be his school.
He’s right. A devastated and slightly crazed Ollie is setting it alight. Smoke is pouring from one of the class rooms and Oliver realises he can’t escape the blaze he has started. Will bursts into the room, drags him outside and manages to revive him.
We next see the two troubled families at the family court. The judge tells them that she considered taking Oliver into care but decided against it. He can stay with his mum and dad.
It’s great news and Laura has a little surprise in store for Will. She’s pregnant.
