Allerton Castle, near Knaresborough, is the country’s finest Gothic building and the ancestral home of Lord Mowbray, Segrave and Stourton. Today, the castle is licensed to hold civil ceremonies in the Great Hall with guests enjoying the freedom of the ground floor and extensive grounds. Amongst its numerous treasures, Allerton Castle boasts the tallest Baronial hall in England.
The magnificent ballroom has capacity for up to 200 guests and the silk-walled drawing room boasts a unique Venetian glass chandelier. The recently refurbished library contains original rosewood bookcases and hand-blocked wallpaper printed from the original 13 blocks designed by Pugin for the Houses of Parliament.

Harewood House, West Yorkshire doubles as Pemberley in the series and can also be seen on the opening credits. The scenes at Harewood were filmed during October and November last year in the state dining room, east bedroom, state bedroom, the gallery, old library, parterre terrace and in the park. Harewood House was built in the mid-18th century with money made from the West Indian sugar trade, is set in spectacular landscaped grounds, which include formal gardens and gentle woodland walks, a Bhutanese stupa, waterfall and Himalayan garden.
The refurbished east bedroom, featuring a Thomas Chippendale four-poster bed and furniture, and walls decorated with recently restored 18th century hand-painted Chinese wallpaper.
Bramham Park is the stunning family home of the Lane Fox family, who are direct descendents of Robert Benson, the founder of Bramham over 300 years ago. Biggin House, on the Bramham Estate featured as Longbourn.
The focus at Bramham has always been the landscape (the house was merely built as a ‘villa’ from which to admire it). It is a rare and outstanding example of the formal style of the late-seventeenth and early-eighteenth century.
