Joe Swash: "I'm Bear Grylls"

Jungle-bound Joe Swash reckons he could be the show's action man - except he's a bit scared of spiders. 

“I wanted to take a pen-knife because I’ve been watching a lot of Bear Grylls recently,” he says. But what was he planning to do with this blade in the bush?

Build a tree house and a toilet, that’s what! Yes, Joe is well-prepared for long spells of boredom - “I’ve been training myself not to pick my nose and stuff like that,” he declares.

Fans expecting him to behave like his EastEnders character may be a little disppointed though. “I am a bit like Mickey,” Joe says in the build-up to his jungle journey. “Well, I sound like him!” 

Joe's dreams of camp carpentry may have been nipped in the bud, but he's adamant that neither boredom nor beautiful babes can distract him from thoughts of his girlfriend. Or the eight-legged critters that are lurking nearby…

“I’ll be too scared of spiders to think about the girls in there,” he admits. “I can control myself.  I’ll keep it tucked away!”
