Top Gear landed the most popular factual programme, while Rita Simons won most popular newcomer for her portrayal of Roxy Mitchell in EastEnders which held off Corrie and Emmerdale to win most popular serial drama.
The Corrie and Emmerdale casts looked on as former Hollyoaks star Matt Littler bagged the outstanding series drama performance award for the Channel 4 soap with The Paul O'Grady Show taking the most popular entertainment programme.
