Eamonn Holmes

Eamonn was born in Belfast, where as one of five brothers he soon developed a nose for a story and the gift of the gab. It was no surprise that on leaving school he got a job as a reporter. After four years presenting the teatime news on Ulster TV (and pulling pints in his evening bar job afterwards!), he headed for Manchester, home of his beloved United, to join the BBC’s Open Air programme.

It was a telly addict’s dream - Eamonn reported from behind the scenes on all the TV programmes he had grown up with. He went on to host the Holiday programme and also indulged his love of sport, covering snooker and darts in particular.

Sport eventually took Eamonn to GMTV in August 1992. He was originally asked to present their Sunday sports programme, but ended up occupying the famous Breakfast Show couch for the next 13 years! These days his many and varied TV and radio appearances include hosting Sky’s Sunrise breakfast programme and a regular Friday appointment and summer seasons on ITV1’s flagship daytime show, This Morning. In 2008 Eamonn was voted Satellite Broadcaster of the Year at the prestigious Television and Radio Industry Club Awards.

Eamonn is raising money for the Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke and Diabetes UK.
