On Tuesday, 26 January 2010, Melvyn Bragg will host the final South Bank Show Awards in front of a star-studded audience at The Dorchester, London.
These unique awards celebrate the best of British talent across the arts including Classical Music, Comedy, Dance, Film, Literature, Opera, Pop, Theatre, TV Drama and Visual Arts.
The ballroom will be filled with glittering talent from across this spectrum to celebrate their strength of artistic achievement on the very special occasion of this final ceremony.
“These are the only awards in the world wholly devoted to the arts," Melvyn explains. "They reflect the range covered by The South Bank Show over the years. Time & again the judges have turned up with apparently rather offbeat lists which have contained artists whose work has gone on to be central to the culture. And it is great fun!”
