JK Rowling has been awarded a lifetime achievement gong at The South Bank Show 2008 awards held at London's Dorchester Hotel.

The writer, who famously penned the wizarding novels in various café’s around Edinburgh, was "honoured to receive the prestigious award" at the ceremony that acknowledges creative talent from across the whole of the arts.
