An Audience Without Jeremy Beadle looks back at the career of TV’s top prankster...
Not to mention the iconic shows that made him one of the country’s most recognisable faces.
Filmed in front of an audience of celebrities and hosted by Jeremy’s great friend Chris Tarrant, the programme also celebrates his tireless charity work.
Despite a lengthy list of career highlights, Jeremy’s proudest moment came in February 2001, when he was made an MBE for his services to charity.
However, the star played down his contributions, saying he gave over his time for selfish reasons.
"It's very easy just to sit back and feel sorry,” he said. “Well, I hate that, I hate pity.”
Jeremy dedicated much of his time to helping children with Poland's Syndrome: a disease which stunted the growth of his right hand during childhood.
He was patron of Reach, the charity that supports those affected by similar conditions.
Another of his charities, Children With Leukaemia, has raised almost £100 million, largely due to Jeremy’s involvement.
Over the years, Jeremy’s had us in stitches with his TV pranks – but his charitable work will hopefully leave an even longer-lasting legacy.
