No Heroics: James Lance

James Lance is a British actor, trained at The Sylvia Young Theatre School.

James has recently completed two independent British films due for general release later this year: Bronson and City Rats. James has also had starring roles in The Search for John Gissing, Late Night Shopping and Sofia Coppola’s Oscar-winning film Marie Antoinette, starring Kirstin Dunst.

He has acted alongside Robert Carlyle for the BBC’s Last Enemy and played Joanna Lumley’s son in Sensitive Skin. James also appeared in Channel 4’s The Book Group.

Currently, he is reprising his role as Jesus in ITV2’s Katy Brand’s Big Ass Show, filming Boy Meets Girl with Martin Freeman and starring in a second series of ITV1’s Moving Wallpaper.

James also played the part of Matt in the Channel 4 hit drama Teachers, appeared in Saxondale, Channel 4’s sketch show Smack the Pony, I’m Alan Partridge and Spaced.

Tell us about your character
Don is a Spanish gay man. He's depressed, he's an alcoholic, an ex-junkie with sadomasochistic tendencies. His sense of humour is as dry as the Sahara and he hates almost everybody, including himself.

What is his superhero power?
He can see into the future for up to 60 seconds.

How does your character interact with the other No Heroic superheroes?
Electroclash, She-Force and The Hotness are his only friends. The main reason he is friends with them is so they can buy him drinks as he is skint.

What is your favourite comic/superhero reference within No Heroics?
The Gin City optics bottle is an obvious but good one.

Tell us about your costume – how happy were you to done a pair of tights?
I'm always happy to don a pair of tights.

What is your highlight of the series?
I enjoyed playing Don when he goes to group therapy.

Who is your favourite superhero?
Electroclash. If Don wasn't gay he'd definitely fancy her.

If you could have one superhero power what would it be and why?
Time travel - then you would have had these answers on time.
