PlayWell, it seems as if everyone's favourite quiff-topped young reporter is about to make the jump to the big screen with our very own Jamie Bell given the lead role of Tintin in the first movie.

The Billy Elliot star will team up with his Defiance co-star Daniel Craig for uber director Steven Spielberg, alongside a host of top British acting talent.
Fellow directing titan Peter Jackson will produce the opening instalment in the planned franchise that will be called The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, based on the book of the same name.
The 3-D motion capture film will pit Tintin against Craig's scary pirate Red Rackham with Bell's character searching for sunken treasure after a model ship he buys for Captain Haddock gets stolen.
Haddock will be portrayed, in what seems ideal casting, Andy Serkis aka Gollum and King Kong, while hot comedy duo Simon Pegg and Nick Frost will take on the bumbling Thompson Twins.
If that wasn't enough, titanic thespian Toby Jones is also along for the ride together with Pirates of the Caribbean's Mackenzie Crook and French comic star Gad Elmaleh who was last seen in the Audrey Tatou film Priceless.
New Doctor Who head honcho Steven Moffat teamed up with Shaun of the Dead's Edgar Wright and Adam & Joe's Joe Cornish to write the script with Jackson reversing roles for the second movie if it's a roaring success.
For anyone who grew up on the legendary covers and rollicking stories, it should be quite something to behold especially with Spielberg and Jackson behind the camera to boot. Roll on 2010!
