PlayCoronation Street's Sally Whittaker takes us to Cumbria’s Lake District – once feared for its inhospitable terrain, but since romanticised by countless poets, writers and painters - to explore her favourite view.
On her journey through the hundreds of stunning vistas, she meets people whose lives are invested in and totally committed to maintaining the landscape, including Caroline, who farms one of the farms bought by Beatrix Potter.
But for Sally, there's only one view: Wastwater. Looking down onto England's deepest lake, surrounded by mountains such as Great Gable, Red Pike and Scafell Pike (England's highest peak) and the steep glacial valleys which descend violently to the water’s edge is a pleasure that’s kept Sally coming back time and time again:
"This landscape has fired up the imaginations of painters, poets and climbers. And it's not lost any of its power to surprise, charm and thrill us today.
"I have been coming here for near on twenty years now with my family... and it holds dear memories for me," she said.
