Jack Osbourne: Adrenaline Junkie 3 - watch the latest episode on Saturday 22nd September, ITV2, 9.40pm
Leaving the tough kung fu school behind, Jack and his recruits head west, deep into the heart of the Mongolian outback. Over the next week, they will live, work, eat and sleep the traditional life of nomadic cowboys.
A huge part of this will be learning how to master the dangerous sport of horse riding, as every day they'll be expected to drive 250 animals across the wild open plains, as part of a nomadic cattle drive. After a long bumpy drive, Jack and his team meet the Mongolian family who they will work with over the coming days. They receive a traditional Mongolian welcome of yak's milk, scented snuff and neat vodka. As the two non-drinkers in the group, Jack and Lisa politely mime the action of drinking and quickly pass the cup on.
Before they settle in for the night they witness the seasonal horse castration. The gore is a bit much for Becky to take, but as Jack warns: “You can’t be scared of blood, cos you’re going to be seeing a lot more of it before we are done.”
The following morning is time to saddle up and begin the first cattle drive. Apart from Georgie, everyone else has had little or no experience on horseback. The recruits are 500km from the nearest hospital and so the dangers are all too apparent. If any of them should take a fall they will face an agonising and bumpy journey to get back to civilisation. Thankfully, all of the novice riders start well, apart from Anthony, who's too scared to take control of his horse.
Tonight’s dinner is goat, but unfortunately for Jack and the team they have to catch, kill and cut it up before they can eat it. After a ten minute chase through the panicking herd, the goat is apprehended and the team take part in the slaughtering of the animal. Once again Becky can’t stomach the task. Lisa, however, gets stuck in and even ends up emptying the goat’s stomach, gagging along the way.
The next morning Jack and the recruits head out on another cattle drive. Everyone is now feeling comfortable in the saddle, apart from Anthony whose second day goes from bad to worse, as he gets lost and then falls off his horse. Despite sustaining a mild case of whip lash he gets right back on and battles through, declaring he feels “on top of the world” for coming through the disaster relatively unscathed.
As part of their introduction to Mongolian culture, Jack, Kayode and Anthony are scheduled to take part in a Naddam. This is a traditional sporting celebration where the main event is wrestling. Hilariously, the lads don the red fighting pants of the Mongolian wrestlers and step up to battle. “I feel like a stripper,” declares Kayode, as he has his bum slapped by a spectator and is then kicked into the ring by his Mongolian opponent. Next up is Anthony who is defeated quickly, but Jack takes the bull by the horns and endures a punishing ten-minute bout before finally being beaten.
The only challenge left for them to face is a final cattle drive through the driving rain and snow, plus one last meal. Sadly for Jack and the recruits, its goat testicles! After Lisa and Anthony help extract the balls from the live goats, they are boiled and served up. Self-confessed fussy pants Becky goes first and after gagging for two minutes she finally declares “It pops in your mouth, I feel abused!” Amid much comical moaning and groaning, the others follow suit to eat their share, and the Mongolian adventure is finally over.
