Despite Donal’s beautiful Bolero, it was Ray and Maria’s version of the famous ice dance that blew the judges and audience away - earning them a standing ovation.
Earlier, a tearful Jessica was awarded third place after two breathtaking routines.
The X Factor was awarded two rounds of perfect 6.0s for his flying routine to Take That’s Greatest Day, and Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now, after which he was told by Robin he could have a career as a "professional ice dancer".
But it was a perfect performance to Torvill and Dean's legendary routine that clinched the competition for the musical actor and his lovely partner. "It's a dream come true," beamed Ray as he accepted his title.
So it’s all hail King Quinn and commiserations to runner-up Donal MacIntyre. It’s been an amazing series and we’re already looking forward next year's show.
