Aged 19, Phillip left his BBC job as a booking clerk to emigrate to New Zealand with his family. He quickly landed a job presenting on Radio Hauraki in Auckland and went on to appear on television.
Three-and-a-half years later, he returned to Britain. And within four months of returning to the UK, he was offered him the job of fronting Children’s BBC, with Gordon the Gopher.
Phillip stayed in the Broom Cupboard for two years, then went on to present five series of Saturday morning show Going Live, four series of Take Two, three series of his own quiz show, The Movie Game, and two series of the highly acclaimed travel show Schofield's Europe.
But in 1993, he changed direction and starred in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at the London Palladium. Phil then took the show around the UK and Ireland from December 1993 until mid 1996.
Autumn 1996 saw Mr Schofield presenting two series, One In A Million and Schofield's TV Gold, followed by a one-off Christmas special, Now We’re Talking. And a year later, Talking Telephone Numbers returned for its fifth series.
In 2002 Phillip joined This Morning, and when he’s not sporting his Dancing On Ice skates, Phillip can be found hosting the show five days a week.
