When he began his Dancing On Ice journey, actor and ice hockey fan Chris Fountain thought Torvill and Dean were famous for their iconic interpretation of the Burrito.
Fast, fearless and regularly floored by his toe-picks, the Hollyoaks hunk also had Christopher Dean himself fearing that he was the “most likely to fall over” during the live show.
But Chris has come a very long way since then. Yes, we all knew the lad had something special up that spandex sleeve when he burst onto the ice with pint-sized partner Frankie Poultney in show one, and positively rocked the rink to an Arctic Monkeys track.
Since then, Chris has topped the leader board on no less than seven occasions, often beating close rival Suzanne Shaw and quickly becoming the bookies’ favourite.
Whilst his feisty Rocky Horror Broadway show spectacle, superior spins and fancy footwork have had us on the edges of our seats all series, Chris’ personal show highlight was making Dancing On Ice history in week seven, when he became the first celeb to attempt – and land – an axel.
The show’s first Flambo and Helicopter lifts followed in the following week’s semi-final, and were rewarded with the first 6.0s of the series from an ecstatic Ice Panel. Unsurprisingly, Chris went on to bag his place in the live show finale.
Each week, Chris is supported in the studio by his family (sporting their trademark Team Fountain t-shirts) and an array of glam Hollyoaks co-stars. We have no doubt that they’ll be out in force as he takes to the skies and performs the Burrito, sorry, Bolero in Sunday’s grand final.
And we’ll be alongside him every step of the way – watch exclusive backstage footage and check out Chris’ journey in pictures, only on itv.com.
