Horsham Surprisee

Horsham

02/04/2008

This Horsham home has been a house of horrors ever since Kathryn and husband Warren bought it. Kathryn has called in the 60 Minute Makeover team to surprise hard-working Warren with a fabulous makeover.

The designer: Scott Waldron
Scott was determined to use his impeccable design flair to turn this house around.

Living room
This room had bare walls and a horrible carpet - it needed a serious injection of style and inspiration. Scott wanted to make it warm and homely - he decided to use their much-loved sofas as a starting point, and by choosing stripy wallpaper and using it horizontally he was able to make this room feel so much bigger. The use of dark wood furniture added class and sophistication to the room and by relocating the couples existing plasma TV to the chimney breast it created a lovely focal point for the room.

Kitchen
This little kitchen had been a disaster from the moment they had moved in. It was in real need of a revamp. Cooking-mad Warren deserved a place for his culinary delights to be created. Scott’s design transformed this small gallery kitchen. He injected a bright green onto the walls and replaced all of the doors and work tops with a more modern, up-to-date design. A stainless steel effect splash-back added the professional look.

Main bedroom
This room was a muddle of designs, Kat and Warren had a huge bed which dominated this room making it feel small and cramped. Scott wanted to create a boutique hotel feel in this room. Using a huge wall-to-wall curtain in a gorgeous fabric from Harlequin, the eye was cheated into thinking that the room was much larger than first thought.
