Former cricket star turned commentator and television presenter Mark Nicholas is known for his smooth on-air style and slick delivery.

Mark started his playing career for Hampshire in 1978, going on to captain the team for more than a decade until his retirement in 1995.

He also captained the England 'A' team on tour to Zimbabwe tour during the 1989-90 season.

After his retirement Mark moved into broadcasting, and has commentated and anchored cricket coverage on Sky Sports, Channel 4 and Five.

His sauve talents were recognised in Australia where Channel 9, impressed by his enthusiastic style, employ him to commentate on international matches as the resident 'Pommie' during the southern hemisphere summer.

Mark writes a weekly column for the Daily Telegraph and was named Sports Presenter of the Year in 2001 by the Royal Television Society.

He has also presented the Richard and Judy show on Five and fronted the second series of ITV1's reality show, Survivor in 2002. After a hugely successful transition to cuisine, Mark has returned to present the second series of Britain's Best Dish.
