Coleen: From puffa to Prada
From schoolgirl to successful businesswomen, Coleen Rooney has seen her life transformed since she was thrust into the media spotlight as a teenager.
But, despite the fame, money and showbiz pals, the 22-year-old hasn’t changed from being the down to earth girl with strong Liverpudlian roots she was back then.
Coleen’s still in touch with her school pals and has been spotted out in her childhood home city with fellow party-lover Alex Curran. But, while she enjoys a night out, you won’t catch her being carried out of nightclubs or snapped without her underwear. Coleen has a lot more class than that and knows she’s a role model to thousands of teenagers.
Shopping is also one of her favourite past times. But, while she’s often snapped with bag-loads of designer gear, especially Liverpool favourite Cricket, the savvy shopper isn’t too posh to head down to Primark like the rest of us. She was snapped coming out of the bargain store laden with the latest bargain fashions.
If you think its Wayne’s money she’s spending, think again. Ambitious businesswoman Coleen has carved out a successful career of her own with a weekly magazine column, perfume, fitness DVD and her autobiography Welcome To My World which, by the way, even outsold her fiancé’s. Not bad for a girl who began her working life as a £3.65 an hour shop assistant.
We love Coleen’s curves and her refreshing attitude to weight. You won’t catch her on some faddy diet; the sensible scouser knows it comes down to healthy eating and exercise: "As long as you're sensible it's easy to stay in shape,” she says. “I try to eat well most of the time but I'm only human.”
However, it’s not all about partying, presenting and shopping. In 2006, Coleen presented a Tonight with Trevor McDonald calling for better funding for hospices. Her adopted sister Rosie suffers from the genetic disorder Rett Syndrome and is a regular visitor to a hospice in The Wirral.
