Swansea: Gillian Lloyd-Davies

There was only one option when Gillian picked her co-host - husband Jonathan. She gushes: "He is such an all-rounder – interesting to talk to, clever in the kitchen, artistic and so likeable."

Seasoned party-throwers Gillian and Jonathan took a very serious approach to their hosting. She says: "We put in 110 per cent research & preparation for the themed dinner party. We took extracts from some of our favourite restaurants around the world and fused them with our own imaginative touch. We had a dress-rehearsal dinner for our parents – and they gave us their opinions – something which we both value very much – you can always count on your folks to tell you the truth and be completely honest."

Gillian lives by the motto regret what you haven't done, and says: "We wouldn’t change a thing about our menu, maybe served Kir Royale on arrival – as that is exactly what you would get at our parties every time – however as we had indulged in a luxury champagne we thought it could ruin the exquisite taste!"
