Sherrie may come across as, erm…easily confused on Loose Women sometimes, but she proved she had brains during her appearance on Who Wants To Be a Millionaire with Carol McGiffin. The pair scooped £75,000 for charity.

In 1993, Sherrie joined the cast of Coronation Street as ditzy shop assistant Maureen. Audiences loved her comedy relationship with on screen husband Reg Holdsworth.

Sherrie made her second appearance in an ITV1 soap in the revival of cult classic Crossroads in 2001. Although the show was axed two years later, Sherrie made a splash as the troublesome receptionist Virginia Raven.

Sherrie completed her soaps hat-trick in 2004 by joining Emmerdale. The soap queen starred as young-at-heart Lesley Meredith for two years.

With her comic timing, Sherrie was already an established comedy actress before her foray into the world of soaps. In 1975 starred in Carry on Behind and the Carry on Laughing television series.

Sherrie's also showed off her comic talents in the incredibly popular Russ Abbot's Madhouse series, where she appeared in a variety of zany roles. She appeared alongside comic legends Les Dawson, Little and Large, Cannon and Ball and Les Dennis.

Her more recent comedies include the popular ITV series Barbara, starring Gwen Taylor who she pictured alongside. The sitcom ran for four years between 1999 and 2003.
