Keeping the ladies in check is main anchor Andrea McLean.

Andrea joined the panel at the beginning of 2007 to cover Jackie Brambles’ maternity leave, but has been a regular on the show ever since! 

She was already a familiar television face, best-known for presenting the weather on GMTV. In July 2008, Andrea announced she was leaving the early-morning breakfast show to join the Loose Women panel full-time.


In January 2006, Andrea took part in ITV1's reality ice-skating competition Dancing on Ice. Andrea injuries included a cracked rib and she was later eliminated in week three along with fellow ex-contestant Andi Peters, who she went onto present the weekday show Dancing on Ice Extra for the rest of the show's run. She has also presented Our House for UKTV Style.

Andrea trained as a journalist and graduated with a BA Hons in Modern Studies at Coventry later gaining a Post Graduate Certificate in Periodical Journalism. Andrea then went on to backpack around the world, taking on jobs as diverse as a grill chef, barmaid, shop assistant, receptionist and factory worker. She then started her career as a travel writer in 1993 after backpacking around the world.

Scottish born Andrea was raised in Trinidad and Tobago, hence her distinctive Scot's/Caribbean accent. She moved back to the UK when she was 15 and now lives in London with her partner Steve, her two children Finlay and Amy.
