Denise Welch
Whether she’s talking about serious issues or joking around, Denise is always willing to reveal her own experiences - however personal!
Since joining Loose Women in 2005, she's shocked the panel with her insightful revelations – from admitting she’s had eye surgery, giggling about the time she turned up to the wrong awards ceremony and dishing the dirt on husband Tim Healy’s hilarious bad habits.
And during serious debates, she's equally honest and open having spoken about her battles with depression and alcoholism.
The much-loved actress is currently starring in BBC drama Waterloo Road as flirtatious French teacher Steph Haydock. Before joining the cast in 2006, Denise was already a well-established actress having appeared on Coronation Street and Solider, Solider.
Her television break came in 1986 in ITV’s hit drama Auf Wiedershen Pet. Denise starred alongside actor Tim Healy who she later married. The pair were recently reunited on screen again when Tim appeared as her love interest in Waterloo Road.
Denise became a household name in 1993 when she took on the role of saucy seductress Marsha Stubbs in ITV's Solider, Solider. Her performance of 'You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me' on the show was such a hit with viewers it was released as double A-side along with 'Cry Me A River' in 1995. The single reached No23 and stayed in the charts for three weeks.
Denise joined Coronation Street in 1997 as Rover’s Return barmaid Natalie Horricks. Her vampish character soon began an affair with Sally Webster’s husband Kevin. Who can remember the classic moment Sally slapped Natalie across the face when she discovered what the pair were up to?!
This year Denise and Tim, who have two sons Matthew and Louie, celebrated 20 years of marriage. There wasn’t a dry eye in the studio when Tim made a guest appearance on the show on Valentine’s Day 2008 and serenaded Denise with 'Have I Told You Lately'.
