A darling of the stage and screen, Lynda Bellingham is one class act.
Lynda became a Loose Women in 2007. Her no-nonsense views and amusing grumpiness (that’s been known to rival Carol McGiffin at times!) made her an instant hit with viewers.
On May 31st 2008, Lynda not only celebrated her 60th birthday but also tied the knot with Michael Pattermore – who she refers to as ‘Mr Spain’ on the show. The couple met in Spain while Lynda was on holiday, hence the nickname. He popped the question by hiding her engagement ring in a champagne flute. How romantic!
Although she’s played a variety of roles Lynda is best-known to many as the mum in the 80s OXO gravy adverts. Although Lynda looks back on those ads with great affection, she is glad her career has moved on and less taxi drivers tell her, “I remember you – I always wanted you to be my mother".
In real life, Lynda has two sons named Michael and Robbie from her previous marriage.
Lynda is currently treading the boards in the stage version of Calendar Girls. Lynda plays the role of Chris Harper, played by Helen Mirren in the 2003 film. Along with the rest of the cast, Lynda bravely strips off during the show. Click here to look at Lynda covering her modesty with a couple of flags and a tea towel.
In October 2007, Lynda received glowing reviews for her acclaimed role in Vincent Rover at London’s West End. The show moved to Broadway the following summer.
Lynda got her big break on ITV soap General Hospital in the 1970s. This lead roles in several other roles including Helen Herriott in All Creatures Great and Small; the title role in Faith in the Future and appearances At Home with the Braithwaites and Bonkers. In 2004, Lynda showed a different side by playing recurring villainess Irene Radford in The Bill.
As well as being a regular panellist, Lynda can also been seen treading the boards at then moment as she tours in Calendar Girls.
