PlayDubbed as the lunchtime boob job, women can now have their assets enhanced in the time it takes to buy a sandwich. Launched here in January 2008, a new procedure claims to be able to enhance your breasts by a cup size - with smooth contours - in just 30 minutes without a knife in sight.
However, it does cost nearly £3,000 and only lasts 12 to 18 months. Cosmetic surgeon Dr Roberto Viel explains how this new breast treatment called Macrolane, works.
The treatment, created by the Swedish company Q-Med, Macrolane was initially launched in Europe as a correctional filler for body indentations. Dr. Roberto said: "It's been around for years but commonly used for wrinkle fillers, lip fillers etc. We started using it in December 2007."
Dr Roberto explains what to expect of the procedure: "It takes about 30 minutes and involves a tiny incision being made in the crease under each breast, so that a gel filler made of hyaluronic acid can be pumped in through a flexible knitting needle-sized canula. There is no general anaesthetic (just local) and you don't need to take time off work to recover afterwards."
Dr. Roberto says the treatment is best suited to: "Women who want more fullness or a subtle increase - you can only go up one-and-a-half cup sizes.”
