A team of British scientists devised an experiment with 131 four and five-year-olds, who were offered a plate of biscuits after they had eaten a meal. Those who ate the most biscuits were more likely to have "higher" risk versions of a gene called FTO, which is associated with obesity.

Alzheimer's hope as gene in women is unmasked

A gene responsible for increasing the risk of Alzheimer's in women has been identified by scientists for the first time.  They found that a variant in a gene on the X chromosome - one of the two sex-determining chromosomes - can make women more susceptible to the disease.
