She suffered painful joints, a bloated stomach and was so exhausted that she couldn't work and had to resort to selling her G Strings to make ends meet.
Doctors were unable to find anything wrong. After Jo's appearance, we were inundated with viewers’ suggestions of what her illness could be. One condition kept coming up- Fibromyalgia.
Last month Jo was finally diagnosed with the condition, she said: "I was on a bit of a high. I had felt like I was going a bit mad and it was good to know that I wasn't. I thought this is going to be a real turning point.”
Although there's no cure she's hoping that, with medication and treatment, she could be on the road to recovery.
Jo explains: "This was difficult to come to terms with and I went through a rollercoaster of emotions, getting very tearful that there was no cure. After researching the condition everything clicked into place - for example I found out that sufferers often have a dry mouth and dry eyes which I had."
