Age Concern is the UK’s largest charity working for and with older people. They provide essential services such as day centres, lunch clubs, befriending services, information and advice on financial matters and handyman schemes.
How we are helping...
Donations raised for the This Morning Help The Elderly Appeal will go towards services that combat social isolation among older people and ther work that Age Concern carries out on behalf of older people including:
- Day Centres which offer a safe environment for older people to relax or socialise
- Befriending services where a volunteer visits a lonely older person regularly and gives them a much needed link to the outside world.
- Computer and Internet training which allows older people to keep in contact with friends and family abroad and develop new friendships through social networking.
- Handyman Services which help older people to stay living independently in their own homes and communities close to friends and family.
Volunteering
If you would like to help older people and can spare some time, your local Age Concern would love to hear from you! Perhaps you can help with fundraising, or with some admin; or even on outings or special events.
