Palin's trick or treat

It seems a US election costume is the Hallowe'en fancy dress of choice for party-going Americans this year.

Shop shelves are stacked high with McCain and Obama masks but it is Sarah Palin-style wigs and glasses that are really proving popular.

And for those Palin supporters who want to get a little more creative, "Miss Alaska" and "Sarah Palin the Hunter" costumes are also available.

Jason Sandlofer from Ricky's NYC said of the demand: "Obama to McCain right now, Obama is outselling McCain. But Sarah Palin's taken the cake.

"It's been phenomenal, we're selling out like crazy. It's been one of our best-selling costumes to date."

Jason's shop has also created a Joe the Plumber costume, named after the Ohio man who has become something of a political football for the two camps.

Mr Sandlofer said: "We have a jumpsuit, a blue jumpsuit, it comes with a plunger and it comes with a little name badge which says Joe the Plumber."
