Rider dies after police pursuit

A 15-year-old moped rider has died in a road accident after being pursued by a police car.
Police said a marked car followed the youth after he drove on when officers attempted to stop him in West Norwood, south-east London, at 8.40pm on Saturday.
Around five minutes later, he came off the moped and was given first aid at the scene by officers, police said.
The London Ambulance Service was called and the teenager was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
He has not yet been formally identified, but next of kin have been informed.
The Directorate of Professional Standards has launched an inquiry into the incident and the Independent Police Complaints Commission has also been informed, police said.
A post mortem will be carried out.
