Answers
1. How do I get access to ITV Pictures?
Pictures for forthcoming and currently on air priority programmes may be found at ITV Pictures. This is a business to business service for UK Companies (registered at Companies House). You may also email the ITV Picture Desk at itvpicturedesk@itv.com. Please note that this is also a business to business service and the Picture Desk does not respond to private enquiries from the public. Please email viewerservices@itv.com for such enquiries. Terms and Conditions of access apply.
2. I would like to receive preview DVDs, whom should I contact?
For journalists requiring programme previews, please complete the registration form at www.readytoair.net. For DVD or Ready To Air queries contact jon.cartwright@itv.com. The ITV Press Office now operates a web based viewing system and is continually reducing the mail out of DVDs.
3. I need more information on a specific show, whom should I contact?
All show information and press packs should have a publicist’s name attached. You should contact them. If no publicist name is present or you do not know who’s dealing the with show, contact us at itvpresscentre@itv.com.
4. I would like to know what programmes are coming up on ITV in the next few months, where can I find out?
Journalists can email itvpresscentre@itv.com and your request will be sent to all ITV Publicists so they can respond accordingly.
5. I need information on a show, the broadcast date of which I know, but it is no PI - what can I do?
As soon as the PI (Programme Information) for a show has been signed off and is confirmed in the scehdules, we publish it up on the site. Generally we aim to have PI for the soaps and long-running programmes up on the site by Tuesday two weeks in advance. PI for other shows should be up by Wednesday two weeks in advance. Please note that most PI is under embargo from press and non commercial publication until certain dates (as specified).
If you are on a deadline and the PI is not available, email us at itvpresscentre@itv.com with the show you are covering and your deadline. We Will do our best to advise.
Please note: Due to our Programme Prioritisation System, the ITV Press Office does not publicise all programmes across the ITV Netwrok. Many programmes will have billings information only. This is provided to publications on a subscription bases by Red Bee broadcast data services. www.bds.tv
6. I want corporate information about ITV, rather than its programming, whom should I contact?
All ITV plc corporate or company queries should be directed to the ITV corporate team via gayle.gilfoy@itv.com but we do publish some corporate news in our press releases section - select "corporate press releases" from the menu. You can also visit www.itvplc.com
7. How do I contact the ITV news desks?
You can search for your local ITV news desk at www.itv.com/local. Select your region. When the relevant region loads select Meet The Team section from the lower right and email and telephone details appear.
8. RSS feeds, what are they?
RSS, nowadays usually taken to stand for really simple syndication, is a format that allows web-based information, mainly frequently updated content, to reach those interested in it via a feed. This saves them having to visit the source site to check for new content.
Subscribe to any RSS feed and you'll receive the headlines and summaries of every article published on the source site. If you are interested in reading the full article, click on the headline to take you straight to it.
RSS feed data are output as XML (extensible mark-up language; a specification designed to enable structured data to be shared across different types of systems) and picked up by RSS-enabled browsers, feed-reader software installed on a user's machine or via online tools.
At the moment, ITV Press Centre users may pick up two ITV press feeds via RSS. Press Releases (incorporating corporate and programme press releases) and Programe Information (PI). Simply copy the web page xml address. Paste this into your Add Subscriptions box in your chosen rss reader.
Many browsers, including Firefox, Opera, Safari, and Internet Explorer 7 (but not IE6 or earlier versions), will handle your RSS feeds for you - refer to the help files in each for instructions.
