Superstar skating duo Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean return to train a team of celebrities to dance on the ice in ITV1’s hit show.
This year’s series is bigger than ever and features 13 celebrity skaters – the highest number so far. And with everything to play for, the bar is set for the most gripping series yet.
The celebrities are: ex-EastEnders and Hollyoaks actress Gemma Bissix; ex-Bill and EastEnders actor Todd Carty; actor and TV presenter Jeremy Edwards; rugby star Ellery Hanley; footballer Graeme Le Saux; investigative reporter Donal MacIntyre; presenter and model Melinda Messenger; Loose Woman Coleen Nolan; ex-Emmerdale actress Roxanne Pallett; singer Ray Quinn; presenter Zoe Salmon; pop star Jessica Taylor; and TV presenter Michael Underwood.
Following in the footsteps of previous winners Suzanne Shaw, Kyran Bracken and Gaynor Faye, our skating stars will perform live each week to win the approval of the all important judges, capture the hearts of the nation, and compete for the title of Dancing on Ice Champion 2009.
This year’s celebrities are more determined than ever before and have their sights set on mastering daring moves including the axle, the helicopter and the infamous head-banger as well as new and thrilling lifts and jumps.
The stellar line up are hoping to attempt some of the most daring moves yet as they don glittering costumes to glide their way round the famous rink.
Our celebrity cast aren’t the only ones competing for ice skating glory, as Torvill and Dean search for Britain’s next Ice Star. Launched last year, the Ice Star competition will see the skating duo become judges and jury - with the most entertaining and original ice acts in the country lining up to audition for a chance to perform in the Dancing on Ice final and the Dancing on Ice tour.
Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby will be rink side to present the live series and judges Jason Gardiner, Nicky Slater, Karen Barber, Ruthie Henshall and Robin Cousins will be on hand to deliver their verdicts.
With the standard so high last year and a team of competitive celebrities, how will our skating stars fare under the spotlight?
