The Story of the Costume Drama

The penultimate episode, Picture Perfect, looks at exactly what it takes to create the lavish on screen results that costume drama is famed for. We speak to all involved in producing some classic series – from those who source locations, for example the iconic Castle Howard for Brideshead Revisited, to the challenges faced by set dressers who had to import tonnes of paper snow during the making of Dr Zhivago. This episode looks at every element of the production process including the bodices, breeches, bonnets and bloomers, and the make-up and the hair styles.
