Cain's history: In pictures

Cain Dingle arrived in the village in 2000 for his cousin Butch's funeral. Butch died in a road accident and the Dingles blamed millionaire Chris Tate.

Cain and his cousin Charity had always had 'a thing', so when he found out that Charity was having a relationship with Chris, he went mad.

Shameless to the core, Cain seduced teenager Ollie Reynolds, when the woman he really wanted was Ollie's mum, policewoman Angie Reynolds.

Ollie and Cain were caught in bed together by her grandfather, Len, who Cain threw over the banister. But he was a hardy old chap and survived the fall.

Angie and Cain planned to rob Tate Haulage, but actually, Angie had set Cain up. On the night, she crashed her car and was fatally wounded. Cain was in love with her and begged her to confess she felt the same - but she didn't.

Cain and Charity had slept together very early on and Charity fell pregnant at 13. In 2003, Debbie Jones came to the village and revealed she was Charity's daughter. They then broke the news to Cain.

When Charity got engaged to Tom King, his daughter-in-law, Sadie, enlisted Cain's help to ruin the wedding. Cain pretended to kiss Charity while a photographer took pictures, which Sadie showed Tom on his wedding day. Tom was convinced his wife-to-be was having an affair and ended their relationship.

When Debbie gave birth to Sarah at age 15, she gave the child away and Cain vowed to get her back for all the pain she'd caused her family. Debbie became romantically involved with Jasmine, so Cain seduced Jasmine to hurt Debbie.

Of course, the plan wouldn't work unless Debbie could see with her own eyes what was going on. It wasn't long before she got back at her evil father. Jasmine fell pregnant by Cain and Debbie encouraged her to have an abortion. Cain was devastated. 

One of Cain's finest moments was when he kidnapped Tom and Sadie King. Originally, he and Sadie had planned on kidnapping Tom and holding him ransom for millions. However, Cain found out that Sadie had paid for Jasmine's abortion - so the plan changed.

Cain hid Sadie and Tom in a barn and pretended to kill Sadie so that Tom would get his family to hand over the ransom. 

The Kings handed over £2.5 million and Cain got away, leaving Sadie and Debbie behind. He hasn't been seen since. But he's back - very soon...
