Chesham United booked their place in the First Qualifying Round of the FA Cup with an emphatic 5-1 win over visitors Brading Town at The Meadow.
The hosts dominated the game and it took them only five minutes to open the scoring, prolific striker Danny Burnell finding the back of the net with a shot on the turn.
Isle of Wight side Brading hit back against the run of play, however, when eight minutes later Dave Greening capitalised on a defensive mix-up.
On 15 minutes referee Nigel Field awarded Chesham a penalty. Burnell struck it tamely and Brading goalkeeper Simon Moore guessed the right way to save.
But Chesham kept pressing and on 28 minutes Grenada international Darrell Cox headed home Steve Cawley’s pinpoint cross to restore their lead.
With eight minutes of the first half left the home side were awarded a second penalty. This time Burnell was more confident gave Andy Leese’s side a two-goal cushion, remarkably with his 13th goal in just five games.
It was more of the same after the interval. Chesham made it 4-1 on 69 minutes with a beautifully worked goal scored by substitute Steve Obeng.
Brading had to play out the final minutes with ten men once Danny Reeve was sent off for lashing out at Adam Parker.
And Chesham put the icing on the cake nine minutes from time when Cox scored his second to complete a resounding 5-1 victory for the Buckinghamshire side.
