Danny Graham's 11th goal of the season helped to end non-League Grays' FA Cup dream as they secured a 2-0 win in the first round replay at the Recreation Ground.
Graham turned home Jeff Smith's cross in the 26th minute while Graham Kavanagh's strike put the game beyond doubt for the League One side.
Marc Bridge-Wilkinson could have added a third from the spot late on but after rattling the crossbar with his initial effort, his rebound was chalked off.
The struggling Conference side could have taken the early lead but Barry Cogan and Rob Gier both fired wide from close range.
But their lively start did not last and Carlisle pushed Wayne Burnett's side back into their own half before grabbing the lead.
Smith's inch-perfect cross from the left found Graham unmarked and he turned home past goalkeeper David Button.
Sam Sloma should have done better with a 10-yard effort just after the interval and Carlisle made them pay when they netted the killer second goal.
Goalscorer Graham turned provider and he crossed for Kavanagh to bundle the ball into the net after a fumble by Button.
The visitors missed a chance to put the game beyond any doubt when Bridge-Wilkinson had his penalty ruled out after Fabian Wilnis handballed.
The midfielder's first effort struck the bar but he slotted the rebound home before any other player had touched the ball, and referee David Phillips ruled it out.
