Fleetwood survived the final 27 minutes with ten men following the dismissal of defender Nathan Pond to claim a 0-0 draw with Ridgeons League outfit Leiston.
Pond saw red in the 67th minute for a dangerous challenge on Judd Chenery but although Leiston piled forward Mickey Mellon's men held out.
Kieran Walmsley's low drive from the edge of the box forced Jamie Stannard into a smart save as Town began brightly.
Chenery then saw a header tipped over in the 13th minute by Danny Hurst before also seeing a header cleared off the line by Colin Potts from the next corner.
Marc Lowe's bicycle kick flew narrowly over for the hosts before Stannard spilled Andy Bell's angled shot and Leiston captain David Head cleared the danger with Adam Warlow set to pounce on the loose ball.
The game exploded into life shortly after the hour mark when Pond was given a straight red by referee Rob Whitton after a crunching tackle on Chenery.
Leiston had the ball in the back of the net ten minutes later when Lee McGlone fired through a busy goalmouth but the strike was disallowed for offside.
Fleetwood midfielder Matty Kay sent Steve Foster through seven minutes from time but the substitute blazed his shot over and despite some late pressure the visitors stood firm to earn the replay.
