A second-half goal from Shane Sinclair kept Wembley in this year's FA Cup as they earned a replay at Vale Farm.
Royston Town took the lead 10 minutes from half-time when Luke Robins' shot slipped in, a goal the visitors fully deserved.
But Sinclair's equaliser on 53 minutes earned the home side a replay on Tuesday night despite going down to 10 men when defender Andrew Walker was sent off for two yellow cards.
