Chester 3-0 Brentford

Published: Tuesday, 28 October 2008, 12:00AM

Chester turned the form book upside down to send high-flying Brentford to an embarrassing 3-0 defeat.

Striker Ryan Lowe was the hero with two goals and an assist as Chester ended their eight-match winless run in style.

Brentford should have taken the lead on 24 minutes when Marcus Bean side-footed an effort against the bar from inside the six-yard box.

A minute later Chester made the visitors pay for that missed opportunity when Eddie Johnson touched the ball into the path of Lowe, who raced through to finish confidently past Ben Hamer.

The home doubled the advantage on 57 minutes when a right wing cross from Lowe was met by a bullet header from Kevin Roberts, which gave the visiting keeper no chance.

And Lowe rounded things off on the hour mark, beating the offside trap to race on Mark Hughes pass and slide the ball in off the post.

Chester could even afford to miss a great chance late on as Paul Rutherford's effort struck a post.
