Morecambe 2-0 Aldershot

Published: Saturday, 1 November 2008, 12:00AM

Morecambe clinched their first win in 10 games with a 2-0 victory over Aldershot.

Two second-half goals gave the Shrimps a much-needed win as the Shots suffered their seventh successive away defeat.

The home side took the lead after 56 minutes when on-loan Manchester City teenager Ryan McGivern found space down the left and drilled in a low cross which Stewart Drummond turned past Nikki Bull from 23 yards.

Aldershot hit back with home goalkeeper Barry Roche producing a superb save to block John Grant's close-range effort before Ben Harding was unfortunate to hit the crossbar with a fierce 30-yard strike.

But as the Shots pushed forward they left gaps at the back and Morecambe took advantage with Wayne Curtis put through on goal. His effort was well saved by Bull but McGivern followed up to slot home the rebound to open his account for the Shrimps.

Aldershot were left ruing a Grant penalty miss after 40 minutes after Roche saved well after Henry McStay had brought down Danny Hylton.
