Jefferies targets striker

Kilmarnock manager Jim Jefferies is still hopeful of bringing in a new striker when the transfer window opens.

Coventry teenager Donovan Simmonds is set to extend his loan deal beyond January but he will need a minor operation next month and Jefferies is looking for more experience up front.

"We have got somebody in mind who we have been working on behind the scenes but I'm not going to give any names," Jefferies said.

He added: "I just hope we can manage to get him; if not, we will have to look elsewhere.

"It has hit a little bit of a snag at the moment but we will wait and see what happens.

"There is still another week to go and we are hoping to get him in in January as soon as possible."

Former Partick Thistle striker Armand One is still hoping to win a deal at Rugby Park.

"He is still on trial; he has had a couple of reserve games," Jefferies said.

"He will train with us next week and I'll make a decision next week."
