Davide Valsecchi cantered to victory in the final race of the GP2 season at Monza, however his Italian compatriot Giorgio Pantano had already wrapped up the title in the first race on Saturday.
Pantano only finished in 10th place in the first leg of the weekend double header, however Brazilian Bruno Senna's failure to score enough points to challenge.
Brazilian Lucas di Grassi held on under immense pressure from Venezuelan Pastor Maldonado to secure the opening race, after a hard fought battle.
Valsecchi held his nerve to win Sunday's race by nine seconds ahead of Roldan Rodriguez, Romain Grosjean and Maldonado, however it was fifth-placed Pantano who took the plaudits after a superb season.
