Danny's Diary: I'll play at prop if the Lions want me to

After last Saturday's win over Newcastle, the build-up has started to the biggest game of our season so far - the Guinness Premiership semi-final against London Irish on May 9.

If we can play like we did against the Falcons, when we ran in the four tries we needed for a bonus point within 26 minutes, then I reckon we'll have half a chance. We've tried to play a dynamic, off-loading game all season and the first half last Saturday was an example of when everything clicked.

But the good thing is that Irish will no doubt come to the Stoop intending to play a bit of rugby as well. The weather is great, the ground is nice and firm and both side should be able to chuck the ball around at will. Not one you should miss!

London Irish and their coach Toby Booth have been asking to have the game switched from our home ground to the main Twickenham stadium to accommodate more fans.

But we've won the right to play there and switching across the road would lose us home advantage. We love playing at the Stoop, the fans will be right in their faces and that should give us a massive lift.

Waiseya Lunveniyali had an excellent game at No 10 last week before going off injured: but it would also be great to have Nick Evans back and fit for the semi-final.

Now, as for the Lions tour: things are up in the air again for the scrum-halves who missed out on the initial selection. I'm genuinely gutted for Tomas (O'Leary) after his injury playing for Munster last week, and wish him a very speedy recovery from his broken ankle.

But from my own point of view, I can only wait and see what happens. I'll get my head down and focus and work hard for Quins as I have done all season. I'd play at prop if the Lions wanted me to but it will come down to the type of player they are looking for. I'm not booking any summer holidays just yet!

This weekend - a rare one that we have off work at Quins - I'll be heading up north to see the family and on Sunday it'll be one of my mum's roast dinners. Should set me up nicely for next week!

I'll be driving back down to London on Sunday night for one of the biggest weeks of my career. Come back next week to see how I'm getting on ...

Cheers,
DC
