Every game Harlequins play at the moment seems to guarantee excitement and drama, and Saturday's draw with Leicester was no exception.
What a sweet strike it was by our fly-half Nick Evans to level it at 26-26. After we got the try in the corner, we all stood back and I was thinking "He's going to get this." As soon as he kicked it we could hear all the fans going crazy, and that was a great feeling.
It's probably fair to say that Nick Evans has balls of steel! He's not shy of stepping up for a late kick and he seems to prefer it when it’s a close game. He really does thrive on pressure which is a useful quality in any player, but particularly a fly-half.
After a bit of a stop-start first half, it was an enjoyable game. We had to dig really deep to come back from 17 points adrift but it was a strange mix of emotions afterwards because it was a game we should have won.
Switching the match to Twickenham was a massive success and it shows the kind of fan base that Quins are building. The dream now is to sell it out at full capacity for a Christmas Premership game next year.
Looking back over 2008 there have been a few great moments and Nick's drop-goal against Stade Francais at the Stoop would have to be the best.
I don't think any of us will ever forget the roar that went up around the stadium – what a way to seal back-to-back wins over Stade. The week before, when we won in front of 80,000 fans in Paris, was amazing as well.
On the international front, making my debut for England in June was a special moment. When I came on against the All Blacks we were already well beaten, but it was a memorable day for me - especially when I had a hand in setting up a try for Topsy Ojo.
My favourite try of the year would have to be my first one for England, on my first start in the second Test - I scooted over for one although I couldn't really celebrate it as we were 30 points down!
And as for 2009? Quins need to be in that top four and give ourselves a chance to win the Premiership. We've definitely got the squad, we've got the coaches - we're really enjoying our rugby. Then there’s the Heineken Cup – and I hope to play a part in the Six Nations with England.
I think Harlequins have become one of those teams that others really don't fancy playing. We're working hard for each other and we never give in - I'm just enjoying being a part of it.
Every week is a massive game - and this Sunday we visit Wasps. Hopefully it will turn out to be a Happy New Year for everybody at Quins.
Cheers, DC
