By law, 25% of commissioned programmes in certain qualifying categories have to come from independent producers. Independent producers can choose whether to sell their programme via an ITV company or by ‘direct access’ straight to ITV Network. Below is a guide for producers on direct access programme commissions.
May 2006: ITV is currently engaged in negotiations with PACT to agree new terms of trade for direct access commissions following the recent Ofcom review fo the Television Production sector. Therefore, it is likely that ITV will issue a new Code of Practice and terms which will replace the current code (dated January 2004) and ITV's General Tems and Conditions dated 1 December 2000 set out below. Some of the documents currently on this website should be read with this in mind as many will be updated, revised or replaced in due course and are only for point of reference during this interim period. Should you have any queries, please contact a member of ITV's Business Affairs Department.
