Davina McCall is back to present a brand new primetime series of the international hit show The Biggest Loser on ITV1.

Over nine weeks the series follows the progress of 14 extremely overweight contestants as they compete with themselves and one another to transform their lives forever.

The Biggest Loser challenges the 14 hopefuls to undergo dramatic physical change without any kind of surgery – just the combined forces of determination and motivation.

The contestants weigh in from just over 15st to the heaviest ever contestant at 32st 2lbs. Made up of seven couples, including work colleagues, father and daughter, boyfriend and girlfriend, uncle and niece, mother and daughter, strangers and friends, they move into The Biggest Loser house.

For eight weeks they live together in the beautiful house in Leicestershire where they face intense physical and mental challenges in a battle with themselves to lose weight, change their bodies, their health and ultimately their lives.

Their fitness programme and gym visits are in preparation for the all-important weekly ‘Weigh In’ where Davina reveals how much progress they have made. At this point the two couples who have lost the least amount of weight face elimination and the remaining contestants must vote out the couple that they want to leave the house.

After four weeks the contestants are split into three teams, black, white and blue with the trainers leading a team each. They must face a number of challenges where they understand the value of working together. The contestants’ individual weight loss forms part of their teams’ total weight loss. At the end of each week the team with the lowest percentage faces elimination with each member of the losing team voting on whom they want to be eliminated.

This series tough challenges see them race up a mountain in the Brecon Beacons; pulling a red Routemaster bus 200m; an excruciating challenge involving sand mountains; a gruelling stadium challenge in the U.S.A. and much more.

Throughout the show the contestants are enticed by a series of Food Dilemma Challenges as this is a reality they will have to confront when they return to their normal lives. They must have the will power to resist the dietary choices that previously helped them pile on the pounds.

During their time on the show they must adhere to the rules of the house, only eating food supplied by the approved dietitian. They are only allowed books and music as entertainment and there is no television, newspapers or indeed any contact without the outside world.

At the end of the exhausting eight weeks the remaining contestants are weighed and three finalists chosen. They are then sent home where they must maintain their training regime and new lifestyle with the continued support of The Biggest Loser team, training professionals and dietitian who pushed them in Leicestershire.

After 16 weeks all contestants are reunited for the Final Weigh In and the contestant who has lost the most weight will win a cash prize of £25,000 and the title of The Biggest Loser.
