Jess Robinson on Audition nerves: "You don’t want Simon Cowell at a gig"
Singing impressionist Jess Robinson has teased that despite being 'scared' of Simon Cowell, she’s got a whole lot more up her sleeves after wowing the Judges with her act on Saturday’s show (15th April).
Jess blew the socks off Simon and Co, taking on the likes of Sharon Osbourne, Britney Spears and Cheryl to get four big yeses from the panel, with the 33-year old now revealing that she’s set her sights on the Judges next time around.
Admitting she’s been overwhelmed by the response to her act, Jess confessed that she was most nervous about coming face-to-face with Simon during her Audition, saying: “You don’t want Simon Cowell at a gig, how scary. I was really worried about him being scathing about what I do and that would’ve been pretty horrible.
“I had really whipped myself up into a frenzy of nerves, it meant a lot to me to go out there and do a decent job. So yeah it was relief, and overwhelming. When I went off I had to ask my friend what they said because it was just such a blur.”
When asked what we can expect next from her in the competition, Jess stated: “If I was to get through to the Semi-Finals, I’d like to do lots of new impression that surprise people, I’d like to do some stand up comedy, and you know get some more jokes in there, make people laugh.
“A Judges impression would be great, I would really like to do one and see the reaction. I hope they don’t take offence, I never want to cause offence with my impressions, I think they’re a compliment. Yeah just to make people laugh and entertain people. That would be brilliant.”
She added: “I’ve been practising, just in case. Not Simon or David, that’s for sure. I can’t do men. I can’t quite get Amanda right, but I think Alesha is coming on alright.”
Speaking of her favourite impression to do, Jess claimed former X Factor Judge and Simon’s BFF Cheryl “always seems to get a good reaction from people”, before stating: “There are a couple I didn’t do in the Audition which if I get through to the Semi-Finals, I’d love to do, like Shakira and Jessie J… So yeah, that would be fun.”
Britain’s Got Talent returns to ITV this Saturday, 22nd April, at 8pm!
