Rockingham is the fastest banked racing circuit in Europe with an average lap speed of 1m 24s in the BTCC. With a combination of long straights and intense high speed bends, it is here where excellent tyre grip and balance becomes vital.
Featuring twelve corners, the International Super Sports Car Circuit which is 1.94 miles long meets an action packed weekend of hairpins, chicanes and ample passings.
As we approach the end of the season, long straights coupled with a great stadium atmosphere is sure to keep every team on the ball as they battle for the coveted winner’s spot for 2012.
Entry speed is crucial and the braking capabilities of the tyres will really make a difference. Similarly, the tyres need to provide the drivers with enough grip to achieve optimum exit speed for overtaking on the start/finish straight. If a driver can get the power down soon enough, ITV4 will be guaranteed some nail biting action to capture and deliver to your screens.
With a lot of side-by-side racing expected, drivers want every confidence that their tyres will give the feedback needed to execute sharp bends and highly technical infields.
It’s important to remember our tyres allow the drivers to remain on the limit, at all times. Also, whether it is a heavy downpour or rocketing temperatures, Dunlop’s Race to Road Technology mean the same tyre compound can be used throughout the whole season, and the technology filters through to Dunlop’s road products.
Rockingham will be a crucial round with just two tracks left in the pursuit of the BTCC’s championship title. It’s time to place your bets!
